Longtime Afronerd listeners are keenly aware of our penchant for Prince/Funk music but there's also a great deal of admiration for the Spike-verse (ok.....I made that nomenclature up but you get the point)-adhering to all things celluloid centered with Brooklyn's favorite son, filmmaker Spike Lee. Well, I don't think too many folks were aware of the close friendship between the two artists aside from true Prince enthusiasts (yours truly included) but according to the Okayplayer website, an unreleased Prince rendition of the antebellum Negro spiritual, "Mary Don't You Weep" is slated to be included in Lee's highly anticipated BlacKkKlansman film.
